As I was telling you (See part 1 here), after the trip to Puerto Nuevo we arrived to Las Gaviotas community pretty quick. It is a residential community where many houses are available for vacation rentals.
It’s kind of like a beach club, I really liked how nice and cozy the vibe is, the houses look very much alike, almost all of them are white or light-colored, but each has its own personality. There is a pool and a private beach, so we really didn’t need to leave anywhere else for our mini-vacation.
The first thing we did was decide where everyone was going to sleep, once decided, we unpacked and changed. The kids were so excited, they got their swimsuits on and left right away to explore!
Afterward, we divided into two groups, some moms went to the pool with the kids and some went to buy groceries for our stay. I went in the group to buy groceries because I love to cook and love to go out and explore. It was cool to buy for so many people which I don’t really do. I enjoy buying cheeses, Mexican pan dulce, fruits and sweets that can only be found there.
Returning dinner, we shared a while and went to rest. Sure, especially children, did not want to sleep, Adri stayed with two friends in a room he called the man cave, because it was as it was passed it there all the time, it was dark half and had a disorder always , Hahaha!
The next day was a full day, it was cool because we ate breakfast calmly, ah …! I made arepas for everybody!! I think almost everybody like them! But I was so busy and didn’t take any pictures of them. Then we went to the beach, there is a nice walkway to get there which is right in front many other houses with beautiful details and designs you can admire while you walk.
At the beach the children explored, played ball or with the sand; they also found some sea creatures. After a while, they went back to the pool for a little bit and then it was dinner time!
We planned for pasta but we had the idea of making a Pasta Bar because there were many things that we could add to the pasta so that way everybody could choose their own, and was delicious. We also had chicken and vegetables cooked on the grill, uff, my mouth is watering as I write this. Juanita, one of the moms, cooked the main delicious white sauce for the pasta and a garlic spinach: delish (maybe I should ask her for the recipe and post it here one day!)!
Viajar con un grupo grande de gente siempre brinda aprendizaje, especialmente con amigos con los cuales no acostumbras a viajar. Pienso que en este viaje las amistades se afianzaron un poco más y aunque los niños entre ellos no hablaron mucho español, estaban rodeados de más español que el del día a día en sus casas. A mi me encanta porque a todos les puedo hablar español!
Traveling with a large group of people always provides learning opportunities, especially with friends with whom you are not used to traveling with. I think that on this trip we all bonded and friendships strengthened a bit more and although the kids don’t speak much Spanish among them they were surrounded by more Spanish than what they have day by day in their homes. I really love it because I can speak Spanish to all of them (not only mine)!

VIAJANDO CON NIÑOS BILINGÜES: MEXICO | PARTE 2
Como les iba contando (Ver parte 1 aquí), después del paseo por Puerto Nuevo llegamos ahí mismito a la urbanización Las Gaviotas. Es un conjunto residencial en el cual tienen muchas casas disponibles para rentarlas de vacaciones.
Es como un club, me pareció muy lindo y acojedor el conjunto, se ven muy parecidas todas las casitas, casi todas son blancas o de color claro; pero cada una tiene su personalidad y diseño propio. Hay una piscina y una playa privada, así que de ahí ya no salimos más hasta regresarnos!
Lo primero que hicimos fue decidir a donde iba a dormir cada quien, una vez decidido, a desempacar y cambiarnos. Bueno y los niños como loquitos de la emoción, se pusieron sus trajes de baño y a explorar a ver donde está todo!
Después nos dividimos, unas mamás se fueron a la piscina con los niños y otras nos fuimos a hacer la compra de comida. Yo me apunté en la compra ya que me encanta cocinar y salir a explorar. Fue chévere comprar para tantos! Disfruto mucho comprando quesos, panes dulces mexicanos, frutas y chucherías que solo se pueden encontrar allá.
Al regresar cenamos, compartimos un rato y nos fuimos a descansar. Claro, los niños sobretodo, no se querían dormir, Adri se quedó con sus dos amigos en un cuarto al que le llamábamos el man cave, porque era tal cual, se la pasaban ahí todo el tiempo, era medio oscuro y tenían un desorden siempre, jajaja!
El día siguiente fue el día completo que pasamos ahí, fue chévere porque desayunamos con calma, ah…! hice arepas para todos!! ¡A la mayoría le gustaron! Pero estuve muy ocupada y no pude tomarles fotos. Bueno, después fuimos a la playita, es bastante empedrada y hay un camino lindo que tienes que recorrer para llegar, y entonces pasas por muchas otras casitas con detalles bellos que puedes ir admirando.
En la playa los niños exploraron, jugaron pelota o con la arena, también encontraron alguna que otra criatura del mar. Despues se quedaron un rato más en la piscina y listo, hora de cenar!
Teníamos planeado hacer pasta pero tuvimos la idea de hacer un Pasta Bar, porque había muchas cosas que le podíamos poner a la pasta, y quedó riquísimo, además que cocinamos pollo y vegetales en la parilla, uff, se me agua la boca de escribirlo, Juanita, una de las mamás, cocinó una salsa blanca y unas espinacas deliciosas!!
Viajar con un grupo grande de gente siempre brinda aprendizaje, especialmente con amigos con los cuales no acostumbras a viajar. Pienso que en este viaje las amistades se afianzaron un poco más y aunque los niños entre ellos no hablaron mucho español, estaban rodeados de más español en comparación al día a día en sus casas. A mi me encanta porque a toditos les podía hablar en español (no solo a los míos)!
