Even though it’s still midsummer, it’s time to get everything ready for our kids to go back to school, time flies! And I know that in some parts of the country kids already started school.
This year is so exciting for us because Maya starts Kindergarten and just by thinking and writing about it I get teary, I’m so excited!!! But in a way having both of them in school means we have to be a little more organized and we also need to get supplies for both of them now.
I’m always looking for ways to save and I discovered you can save lots of time and money by using the smartphone. Here is a list of tips that will help you get it all together with the help of the smartphone!
1. Start by setting up a budget for everything you need. After following Dave Ramsey’s plan I realized how useful it is to set a budget for anything, it really helps to have a top for the spending you will do. An app that will help you is EveryDollar. Input your spending directly on your device and it will subtract it from your total budget.
2. Whenever you need to, take a photo of anything you like for back-to-school with your smartphone and save it in a special folder labeled BTS shopping. That way even if you are not shopping for back-to-school at that moment you will have a visual list of things you like easily accessible in your device.
3. Save with digital coupons. There are many apps that help you find the savings near you so you don’t have to go store by store. Here are some of the ones I love and use:
- Walmart Savings Catcher: You input your shoppings and if they find the products you got in other places for less, they will give you the difference for next time you buy!
- GeoQpons, Weekly, Shopsavvy and Flipp: I love that you can choose your favorite stores and they will tell you the latest sales and coupons so you don’t have to scramble all those paper weekly ads. The GeoQpons even alerts you when you’re close to a store that has a deal!
- Michael’s and Joann’s: Keep these apps handy when you go to the store cause there is ALWAYS a digital coupon you can use in them!
4. Clothes for back-to-school: I recommend to sign up to your favorite stores’ newsletters, they usually send special coupons to their subscribers directly to your email. So when you are actually at the store you open up your email on your device and done! My favorites are Old Navy and The Children’s Place.
5. Plan those snacks and meals: Let’s not forget having snacks and lunch boxes planned for the week saves you a lot! Subscribing to a meal planning service like momables is a life saver, after deciding which meal to make for each day you can use Evernote or Wunderlist to save your grocery list and have it on hand while at the market.

Tips para ahorrar en el regreso a clases con tu teléfono inteligente

A pesar de que aún estamos en pleno verano, es el momento de empezar a tener todo listo para el regreso a clases, ¡el tiempo vuela! Y eso que en algunas partes de los EEUU los niños ya empezaron!
Este año es muy emocionante para nosotros porque Mayita empieza el Kinder en el colegio; yo con sólo pensarlo y escribirlo se me aguan los ojos, estoy muy emocionada por mi nena!! Pero bueno, todo esto también significa que tenemos que ser un poco más organizados y ahora hay que comprar útiles para dos en vez de uno.
Siempre ando buscando maneras de ahorrar y descubrí que se puede ahorrar bastante tiempo y dinero utilizando nuestros teléfonos inteligentes. Hoy les traigo una lista de tips que les ayudará a conseguir todo lo que necesiten con la ayuda de sus teléfono inteligentes!
1. Comienza por hacer un presupuesto para todo lo que necesites comprar. Después de seguir el plan de Dave Ramsey me di cuenta de lo útil que es establecer un presupuesto para cualquier cosa, porque realmente ayuda a tener un tope para el gasto que va a hacer. Una aplicación que te ayudará es EveryDollar. Después de establecer tu presupuesto, ingresas directamente lo que vas gastando en el teléfono y se va restando de tu presupuesto total.
2. Cuando andes por ahí y veas algo que te guste para el regreso a clases tómale una foto con tu teléfono y guardarlas en una carpeta con el nombre de regreso a clases. De esa manera aunque no estés haciendo compras para el regreso a clases en ese momento tendrás una lista visual de las cosas que te gustan fácilmente accesibles en tu teléfono.
3. Ahorra con cupones digitales. Hay muchísimas apps que ayudan a encontrar ofertas cerca de donde estés para no tener que ir de tienda en tienda. Éstos son algunas de las que me gustan a mi y de las que uso:
- Walmart Savings Catcher: Hay que escanear el recibo de compras y si ellos encuentran los mismos productos que compraste en otros lugares por menos dinero te dan la diferencia para la próxima vez que compres!

- Michael’s y Joann’s: Ten estas apps a la mano para cuando vayas a la tienda porque siempre hay un cupón digital que se puede utilizar, siempre!
4. Ropa para el regreso a clases: Yo recomiendo mucho subscribirse en los newsletters tus tiendas favoritas; por lo general envían cupones especiales sólo para suscriptores por correo electrónico. Así que cuando estás en la tienda sólo abre tu correo en tu teléfono ¡y listo! Mis favoritas son Old Navy y The Children’s Place.
5. Planea las comidas y las meriendas: No hay que olvidarse de tener las comidas de las loncheras planeadas para la semana, ¡con eso se ahorra mucho! Suscribirse a un servicio de planificación de comidas como MOMables ¡salva vidas! Después de decidir que comida vas a preparar para cada día puedes usar Evernote o Wunderlist para guardar la lista de la compras y tenerla a la mano mientras que estás en el super.
