As years pass you can tell I have less time to post as often as I would like to. In my head, I am posting about two times per week LOL! But the reality is I get so busy with work and day-to-day activities that I end up not posting much, boo.
Anyway, today I want to tell you a brief holiday recap and the start of this year 2021 so maybe I’ll do this as a yearly recap post? Let’s shoot for that!
First of all, my mom is so much better (you can go here where I explain what happened to her) plus we found a place for her and are super happy with it! The downside is that we are still in a pandemic so we can’t really take her out and spend too much time with her, the visits are limited and well, it’s understandable. We got her a “Portal“, this is a device that helps do video calls, it works with Facebook and Whatsapp which is what we regularly use with my family, it is fun and easy for her!
We did celebrate Adrian’s birthday in November with the immediate family plus one of his friends. Can you believe he turned 14!!???? I started this blog when he was 6 months!!! Kids are such time trackers. And it is absolutely true, enjoy them when they are little cause it DOES GO BY SUPER QUICK!! Having him at home all the time, I can notice how he is growing so much right in front of my eyes. Just in December until now, his voice is changing plus he is my same height now, but he is and will always be my nene.
We celebrated our first Christmas at our new home! (More details about our move coming soon in one separate post yay!) It was quieter due to the pandemic, only my sister and my brother in law came. We actually didn’t have a traditional dinner cause we got full of appetizers and we decided not to do gifts in between us under our new mantra: Less stuff more adventure. Derek and I only gave the kids one gift and it was an experience gift called “a year of adventures”, something I copied from Miranda from Live Free Creative, I love what she does so I just went for it! So for our first adventure gift, we went to the Jurassic Quest drive-thru Dinosaur exhibit (they’re coming back to SD in March!), then got some lunch to go and ate it in front of the beach. The kids did like it although I was worried it wouldn’t be as exciting for them cause of their ages, but it was great! The pandemic has forced us to share more time together and trying to find safe outdoor adventures is definitely challenging but super fun when we get to do it!
Our house has a fireplace and we are enjoying it so much during these times when it has been super cold here in San Diego. I call Derek: Mr. Wood, because he just loves to take care of it thank goodness! We have even roasted marshmallows, yumm!
Over here schools are still closed and the kids are doing distance learning, it’s not the easiest for us but I’m thankful we can do this and the kids are at an age they can manage computers by themselves. I am sending big hugs and good wishes to all of you that have little ones or that have to work out of the house, while kids have to stay home. What a crazy time we are living in!
Our New year’s celebration was even calmer, it was just the four of us, we got some munchies, watched funny videos and music videos until midnight, when we said Happy New Year and talked to the family on the phone.
We did talk about resolutions and Derek wants to run a 10K while I want to learn advanced DIY skills for making things for the house that require working with wood and so on! I am always looking at DIY remodeling but I need to start doing it!!

RESUMEN DE LAS NAVIDADES Y BIENVENIDA AL 2021
Mientras pasa el tiempo, se podrán dar cuenta que publico aquí con menos frecuencia. En mi mente, yo publico unas dos veces por semana ¡jajaja! Pero la verdad es que estoy tan ocupada con bastante trabajo y actividades del día a día que termino sin publicar mucho.
Hoy less quiero contar un poco sobre los últimos meses del año pasado, nuestras navidades, y el comienzo de este año 2021, a lo mejor se convierte en una cosa que puedo hacer anualmente tipo resumen de finales de año, que tal!?
Primero que todo , mi mamá está mucho mejor (pueden ir aquí donde les cuento lo que le pasó) y además le encontramos un lugar para vivir cerca de nosotros y ¡estamos super felices con eso! La desventaja es que todavía estamos en una pandemia por lo que realmente no podemos sacarla y pasear ni compartir tanto tiempo con ella, las visitas son limitadas y bueno, se entiende. Le conseguimos un aparatico chévere que se llama “Portal“, es como un portaretrato que sirve para hacer videollamadas, funciona con Facebook y Whatsapp que es lo que usamos usualmente con mi familia, ¡es chévere y fácil para ella!
Celebramos el cumpleaños de Adri en noviembre con la familia inmediata y uno de sus amigos. ¿Pueden creer que cumplió 14 años?!!! Este blog empezó cuando el tenía 6 meses!!! Los niños son los que de verdad te dejan ver el paso del tiempo. Y es absolutamente cierto, disfrútalos cuando son chiquiticos porque ¡¡¡EL TIEMPO PASA SÚPER RÁPIDO!! Como está en la casa todo el tiempo, me puedo dar cuenta cómo crece impresionantemente. Solamente desde diciembre hasta ahorita, su voz ya está bastante distinta y ya casi me pass de tamaño, está igualito que yo ahorita! Pero siempre será mi nené.
¡Ya pasamos nuestra primera Navidad en nuestra nueva casita! (Más detalles sobre nuestra mudanza próximamente en otro post ¡yay!) La verdad fue más tranquilo debido a la pandemia, solo vinieron mi hermana y mi cuñado. De hecho, no tuvimos una cena tradicional porque nos llenamos de aperitivos y ya habíamos decidido no hacer regalos entre nosotros para seguir nuestro nuevo mantra: Menos cosas más aventura. Solamente Derek y yo le dimos un regalo grande a los niños y fue un regalo de experiencia llamado “un año de aventuras”, algo que copié de Miranda de Live Free Creative. Me encanta lo que have ella, ¡así que lo hice igualito! ¡Vayan a verlo para que entiendas más sobre este regalo!
Así que, para nuestro primer regalo de aventuras, fuimos a una exhibición de dinosaurios en el carro (Jurassic Quest y vuelve a San Diego ne marzo!), después compramos almuerzo y comimos frente a la playa. A los niños les gustó lo de los dinosaurios, aunque me preocupaba que no fuera tan emocionante para ellos debido a sus edades, ¡pero fue chévere! La pandemia nos ha obligado a compartir más tiempo juntos y tratar de encontrar aventuras que sean seguras al aire libre a veces es dificil, ¡pero súper divertido cuando lo hacemos!

Nuestra casa tiene chimenea y la estamos disfrutando mucho durante estos tiempos en los que hace mucho frío aquí en San Diego. ¡Le digo a Derek, Señor Wood porque siempre está pendiente de la leña y del fuego, gracias a Dios! Y hasta hemos tostado malvaviscos, estamos fascinados!

Aquí los colegios todavía están cerrados y los niños están asistiendo a través de la computadora, no es lo más fácil para nosotros, pero estoy agradecida de que podamos hacer esto y los niños están en una edad en la que pueden manejar las computadoras por sí mismos. Les mando abrazos gigantes y buenos deseos a todos los que tienen niños chiquitos o que tienen que trabajar fuera de la casa, mientras que los niños están en la casa. ¡Qué tiempos tan loco estamos viviendo!
Nuestra celebración del 31 (año nuevo) fue aún más tranquila, solo la pasamos los cuatro en la casa, puse unos pasapalos, vimos videos divertidos y videos musicales hasta la medianoche, cuando nos dimos el Feliz año y llamamos por teléfono a la familia por.
El primero de enero hablamos de resoluciones y Derek quiere correr 10K mientras que yo quiero mejorar mis habilidades de manualidades tipo construir cosas para la casa con madera por ejemplo. Siempre estoy viendo remodelaciones de gente que la hace por si mismas, ¡pero necesito comenzar a hacerlo yo en vez de ver y ver!
