The kids’ room has two big closets. I have their clothes plus a lot more in there, like toys, beach items, some storage for guests (since we don’t have a guest room).
I really try to maximize the storage inside those closets to keep it all looking neat out in the room. But it’s easy to let it go and get that all disorganized.
That’s why spring cleaning exists right?!
During the year, I’m usually checking for any clothes that won’t fit them. If there are, I’ll take them out of the closet so they don’t occupy unnecessary space. But when spring comes and it’s time to take the big winter items out, it’s best to make sure those items are well washed before putting them away.
Clorox 2 is super helpful for laundering those clothes and also for boosting the color in the bright spring ones that are coming out of storage, too. It can be used through the wash or as pre-treat to remove stains OR to brighten colors that have gone dull (2X brighter than detergent alone, to be exact). It makes the kids’ clothes from last year look as good as new!
Now I don’t have a problem in organizing the kid’s clothes, but as you see in the photos, I did have a little area that was kind of out of control. I had a mix of extra kids’ clothes, toys and some guest items storage.
I decided to improve closet space by making it just for guest storage. We always have my family staying over and I think it’s nice for them to have their little area to save their belongings and to have extra items available when needed.
Since I don’t have shelves there I was using some big beach bags hanging from the clothing rod to store stuff in them, which is kind of wasting space and I almost never know what exactly is in there.
I decided to get a hanging shelf to solve that problem. I couldn’t find a smaller size to fit, although I know they exist! I decided to use duct tape on the sides to hold the extra shelves that were hanging in the bottom. It’s a quick solution that helps out and doesn’t look bad at all.
I also got a couple of drawers that fit inside those hanging shelves. I saved extra clothes, bathrobe, cosmetics and helpful products that guests might need. I’m sure they will love it when they get to see this area!! I left some empty hangers and a sweater hanging.
My favorite part is the top shelf, I included comfy slippers, a candle, magazines, a book and a notepad. It’s a little entertainment nook! What else could I save in there? I try to think as if I am the guest, what would I want? Humm…
I’m happy with the closet improvement. It does help a lot when stuff is organized.

LIMPIEZA DE PRIMAVERA: LAVAR LA ROPA Y MEJORAR ESPACIO EN EL CLOSET
El cuarto de los niños tiene dos closets grandes. Ahí guardo la ropita de ellos, juguetes, cosas de playa y hasta un espacio para los huéspedes (Ya que no tenemos cuarto de huéspedes).
Realmente intento maximizar el espacio dentro de esos closets para que el cuarto se vea limpio y ordenado por fuera. Pero es fácil dejarlo y entonces que todo desorganizado.
Es por eso que la limpieza de primavera existe ¿no es verdad?!
Durante el año, siempre estoy pendiente de revisar los closets y separar cualquier cosa que ya no les quede. Si encuentro, las saco para que no ocupen espacio innecesario. Pero cuando viene la primavera y es hora de sacar los artículos grandes de invierno, lo mejor es asegurarse de que se laven bien antes de guardarlos.
Clorox 2 es muy útil para lavar la ropa y también para intensificar el color los colores brillantes de la ropa de primavera que teníamos guardadas también. Se puede utilizar en el lavado o como pre-tratamiento para quitar manchas, ó. para dar brillo a esos colores que se han apagado (2 veces más brillante que el detergente solo, para ser exactos). ¡Hace que la ropa de los niños del año pasado se vea tan buena como nueva!
Ahora no tengo ningún problema en la organización de la ropa de los niños, pero como se ve en las fotos, tenía una pequeña zona que estaba fuera de control. En esa área tenía una mezcla de ropa extra de los niños, más juguetes y algunos artículos para los huéspedes.
Decidí mejorar el espacio del closet acomodándolo solo para huéspedes. Mi familia siempre viene y se queda aquí y creo que es chévere que tengan su pequeño espacio para guardar sus cosas y también que tengas algunos artículos adicionales disponibles porsi.
Ya que no tengo entrepaños ahí, estaba usando un bolso playero grande para guardar cosas, colgado de la barra de ropa, que realmente es una pérdida de espacio y casi nunca sabía lo que tenía guardado ahí.
Decidí poner unos entrepaños colgants para resolver ese problema. No pude encontrar un tamaño más pequeño que cupiera ahí, ¡aunque sé que existen! Entonces decidí usar teipe fuerte a los lados para sostener los entrepaños que sobraron abajo. Es una solución rápida que ayuda y no se ve mal en absoluto.
También puse un par de gavetas que caben perfectamente dentro de los entrepaños. Guardé la ropa adicional, bata de baño, cosméticos y productos útiles para huéspedes cuando vengan. ¡Estoy segura de que les encantará cuando vean este espacito! Dejé unos ganchos vacíos y un suéter colgando.
Mi parte favorita el entrepaño de arriba, le puse pantuflas cómodas, una vela, revistas, un libro y un bloc de notas. ¡Es un pequeño rincón de entretenimiento! ¿Qué más podría guardar ahí? Trato de pensar como si yo fuera la invitada, ¿qué querría? Humm…
Estoy contenta de como quedó esa parte del closet. Ayuda mucho cuando las cosas están organizadas.
