There are so many new coffee shops popping out around the city that it’s hard to keep up! Communal Coffee is in North Park, a very trendy area of San Diego, I learned about it through Instagram, which is one of my favorite ways to learn about new places.

All of a sudden, I’m browsing my feed and somebody post a nice photo of a place so I get curious and immediately look to see if it’s in San Diego; if it is, I write it down in my list of places to go visit.

I went to Communal Coffee with the kids during our staycation, they enjoyed an Orangina and some baked goods. We arrived there at the end of the afternoon (around 4:30) and they close at 6pm so they didn’t have many pastries left, in case you plan to go, keep that in mind!

There is a famous wall they have with huge letters that say “Coffee + Flowers” (A picture of that is the first thing I saw in my Insta feed!). It says coffee and flowers because Communal Coffee shares the space with Native Poppy, a flower arrangement company.

I think this space is so perfect for both things, oh and they also have a gift shop, from crystals to greeting cards, you might find a unique little something to love. I love how all these new coffee shops are different and providing a creative scene where you can go relax and have a nice conversation for a while, enjoy their coffee, maybe get a gift, it’s a nice experience!

I wasn’t able to take pictures of the seating areas, but they have plenty and different type of seats, they even have a one-person hammock! They have a lot of outdoor tables in a patio and out where the coffee and flowers wall is they have more seating as well. Oh and they are next door to the North Park Nursery which has beautiful plants and gardening supplies 🙂

I tried the iced latte with no extra flavors which is what I’m into lately and it is goo except that if you like your coffee to be strong, I would ask for an extra shot, it was too milky. When I go back I want to try other interesting flavors they offer like lavender honey or maple cardamom, sounds so interesting and delicious! They offer a little more than pastries on their eating menu, they have croissants, granola with yogurt, different types of toast (with avocado, honey, jam) and even quiches.

COMMUNAL COFFEE: MUCHO MAS QUE CAFÉ

Hay tantas cefecitos muevos apareciendo en esta ciudad que es difícil poder conocerlos todos. Communal Coffee está en North Park, una zona muy de moda aquí en San Diego. Yo me entré que existía a través de Instagram, que es una de mis maneras favoritas de aprender sobre lugares nuevos.

Lo que hago es ver mi feed de Instagram y de repente alguien publica una foto bonita de un lugar y se me gusta mucho inmediatamente me pica la curiosidad y averiguo si está en San Diego; si sí está entonces agrego el lugar a mi lista de sitios que tengo que ir a conocer.

Por eso este lo tenía en mi lista y me fuí con los niños durante nuestra semana de vacaciones por la ciudad este verano. Los nenes disfrutaron de una Orangina y de torticas (pastelitos dulces). Llegamos ahí al final de la tarde (alrededor de las 4:30) y cierran a las 6 de la tarde, así que no tenían muchos pastelitos disponibles, en caso de que planeas ir, ¡tengan eso en cuenta!

Communcal Coffee tiene un mural famoso que dice “Coffee + Flowers” (una foto de esa pared fue lo que me atrajo en mi feed de Instagram a este lugar!). Y es que dice café y flores porque este sitio comparte el espacio con una florería que se llama Native Poppy.

Creo que el espacio es perfecto para ambas cosas, ah y también venden regalitos, desde cristales a tarjetas lindas, tienen cositas bellas y únicas que seguro algo les pica el ojo! Me encanta como todos estos nuevos cafécitos son diferentes y proporcionan una escena creativa donde puedes ir a pasar un tiempo relajado, conversar, disfrutar de tu café, quizás conseguir un regalo, es una experiencia chévere!

No pude tomar fotos de todos los lugares para sentarse, pero tienen variedad de asientos y bastantes, hasta tienen una hamaca para una persona! Tienen un montón de mesitas al aire libre en un patio y donde está el mural que dice café y flores tienen más mesitas. Ah, y están al lado de un vivero que se llama North Park Nursery, que tiene maticas mjuy lindas y cositas para jardinería. 🙂

Yo probé el café con leche frío (iced latte) sin sabor adicional que es lo que a mi me gusta, y si se los recomiendo pero eso sí, si te gusta tu café con bastante sabor a café osea fuertecito como a mí, le añadiría un shot extra de espreso porque estaba como muy aguado.

Cuando vuelva quiero probar otros sabores interesantes que tienen como miel de lavanda o cardamomo con syrop de maple, suenan ricos! De comer, además de pastelitos y galletas, tienen un menú de croissants, granola con yogur, diferentes tipos de pan tostado (con aguacate, miel o mermelada) y hasta quiches.
