This year I decided to make these Valentine treat bags for the kids’ friends. At the stores, there are plenty of Valentine bags and very cute but I wanted to make something where kids participated in the making them too.

We already had the Valentine trail mix so I looked for little bags we could paint ourselves to put the snack inside them. The internet has so many options of lots of bags, these are called Muslim bags but I am kind of always in a rush with no time to order so off to the stores it was. I found the Muslim bags at Michael’s in the wedding section.

I have lots of paint at home and some stencils so we dove in the painting. Painting is messy and even though I love to do it, I don’t look forward to the mess but once we have all the paintbrushes, the supplies, the paint spread out I LOVE it so much I don’t want to stop. I especially love to see what the kids create. At the beginning I give them a sample of what they can do and then little by little they start using their own ideas, mixing colors and stencils to have their own special creations!

Having the treat bags be all original and different created by them is a very special touch as a Valentine for their friends. I cut pieces of cardboard in the shape of tags and had them sign them, I love the results! Below you can find detailed instructions in case you want to make them, these treat bags can work for any other holiday or even as party favors!

DIY VALENTINE TREAT BAGS

Supplies:

• Muslim bags
• Craft paint
• Several cardboard sheets cut to fit the inside of the bag
• Stencils (like this one)
• Brads
• Color cardboard to make the labels
• Parchment paper a base to insert the treat
• White gel pen

Instructions:

1. Insert the cardboard pieces in the bags.
2. Decide which colors to use and pour several colors on a cardboard plate or any dish for painting.
3. Use a stencil to paint the bags or just paint without a stencil. If you don’t have stencils you can create your own simple ones by drawing a heart on cardboard for example and cutting it out.
4. Cut the color cardboard with scissors in the shape of tags, hole punch one side. Write a message with a white gel pen.
5. Attach to the side of the bags with pretty brads.
6. Cut parchment paper to the size of the bag, fold 3 times to make a semi-bag and insert it into the Muslim bag. After this, your bags are ready for any treat you wish to give. We added the Valentine trail mix!

The fun part about these bags is that after the kids eat the treat, the bags can be useful for holding any other trinket or treasures!

BOLSITAS PARA EL DÍA DE SAN VALENTÍN

Este año decidí hacer estas bolsitas para que los niños lleven al colegio en el día de San Valentín. En las tiendas hay un montón de bolsitas lindas de San Valentín, pero yo quería hacer algo donde los niños participaran y le pusieran su toquesito personal.

Ya teníamos el trail mix para San Valentín listo así que busqué bolsitas que podríamos pintar nosotros mismos para meterle la merienda. En Internet hay muchas opciones de bolsas, éstas que usé se llaman bolsas Muslim, pero como siempre ando en una carrera sin tiempo para ordenar por internet, me tocó ir a buscar en las tiendas. Encontré las bolsitas Muslim en Michael’s

Tengo un montón de pintura en la casa y algunas plantillas bonitas para pintar así que nos dedicamos a pintar. Pintar siempre crea desorden y aunque me encanta hacerlo, saber que viene un desastre no me anima mucho pero una vez que tenemos todos los pinceles, los materiales y la pintura ya afuera, entonces me divierto tanto que no quiero parar. Me gusta sobre todo ver lo que los niños crean. Al principio yo les enseño una muestra de lo que pueden hacer y luego poco a poco ellos comienzan a dar rienda suelta a sus propias ideas, mezclan los colores y las plantillas y así hacen sus propias creaciones especiales!

Me parece que le da un toque muy especial el hecho de que las bolsitas sean originales y diferentes creadas por ellos mismos como “Valentines” para sus amiguitos. Me fascinaron como quedaron todas! Aquí abajo pueden encontrar las instrucciones detalladas en caso de que quieran hacerlas, estas bolsitas puede funcionar perfectamente para cualquier otra celebración o incluso como recuerditos de cumpleaños!

DIY BOLSITAS PARA SAN VALENTÍN

Materiales:

• Bolsitas de tela estil Muslim
• Pintura para manualidades (acrílico)
• Varias  cartulinas cortadas para meter en cada bolsita
• Plantillas (como ésta)
• Tachuelas
• Cartulina de colores para hacer las etiquetas
• Papel pregamino (parchment) para usar como base y meter la merienda
• Marcador de gel blanco

Instrucciones:

1. Inserta las cartulinas dentro de las bolsitas antes de comenzar a pintar
2. Decide qué colores vas a usar y viértelos en un plato de cartón o cualquier otra paleta para pintar
3. Utiliza una plantilla para pintar las bolsitas o simplemente pinta sin plantilla. Si no tienes plantillas puedes crear unas sencillas simplemente dibujando un corazón en la cartulina, por ejemplo, y cortarlo en el medio (ver foto).
4. Corta las cartulinas de colores con unas tijeras en forma de etiqueta, abre un hueco en el lado de cada etiqueta. Escribe un mensaje con un marcador de gel blanco.
5. Colocar la etiqueta de un lado de la bolsita con las tachuelas.
6. Corta el papel de pergamino al tamaño de cada bolsita, dóblalo 3 veces para hacer un semi-bolsa e insértala en la bolsita Muslim. Después de esto, las bolsitas están ya listas para cualquier meriendita que les quieres colocar. Nosotros le pusimos el trail mix de San Valentín!

La parte divertida de estas bolsitas es que después de que los niños se coman la merienda, las bolsitas pueden ser útiles para guardar cualquier otro tesoro!
