I am so excited to tell you that I am officially a Straight Talk Wireless tester! This means that I will be sharing tons of information throughout the year about how we stay connected and how we use technology to fit it into our lifestyle as a family, as a blogger and as an entrepreneur.

These days my mind is already in Summer mode, Adrian just had his last day of school and we have enrolled him in day camp for all Summer. Maya still goes to preschool which doesn’t close during the Summer months so she will stay there until it’s time for Kindergarten.

But as working parents we don’t really stop working during the summer months so life is pretty much similar except for the fact that it is SUMMER! And it’s so nice out and we must plan fun outdoor activities right?

The keyword is “plan”, if we plan it well I think we’ll be able to make the most out of it. So I went ahead and made our first Summer Bucket List!

 

Apps to Help you Make the Best Summer Bucket List

Wunderlist (Update, now it’s Microsoft To Do)
It’s simple, you make to-do lists and that’s it. The best part is that you can share them with whoever you want, so Derek and I are sharing the Summer Bucket list, adding or editing as necessary. You can easily print from it too.

Tiny Calendar
I use my Google calendar religiously but in my iPhone, there is no Google calendar app (Update, now there is one but I still like Tiny Calendar!), so this app is very nice, it displays all my google calendars nicely. It’s the one I open in my phone all the time, highly recommend it (Of course if you have Android the regular Google Calendar App might be better).

Hey Lets
(Update: It no longer exists) Choose your interests and start browsing recommendations of places close to you, no bad reviews in here! Such an easy and beautiful interface to get to know new places!

Swarm
This one is the one you can check-in and see what your friends have said about the place before or if maybe they’re around/

OverDrive
A great discovery! (Update: some libraries have moved to Libby instead of Overdrive) This app lets you borrow ebooks and audiobooks from your local library, you use your same library card but you can browse and read them directly from the app. Perfect for choosing an audiobook for a road trip!

Roadtrippers
We are planning a road trip and I thought this was the best app for it. It shows you the map and many places around where you are. I will open it to plan the trip and then during the trip I can use it as a guide too.

Pinterest
Well, just search for “Summer Bucket List” and you’ll get lots of great ideas for your own! Having it on the phone is so useful because if you’re on the go you can pin any ideas you see out and about!

I am using all these apps with an iPhone 6 and Straight Talk wireless service; it’s the first time using a service like this with no-contract plans and great coverage. I am liking it so far! You can either bring your own phone and get connected or get a new phone with them. The plans start at $30 per month. Follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for more info.

Pensé en sorprender a los niños un día a la semana después de recogerlos en el campamento e irnos a hacer algo divertido en vez de ir a casa; estas ideas van a las Ideas de actividades durante la semana, es una lista con ideas más sencillas, rápidas y fáciles para hacer una noche entre semana. Y la luego la lista principal es la Lista de actividades de verano que será para los fines de semana.

Antes de que dijera nada en voz alta Derek parecía haber leído mi mente y comenzó a hacer una lista. Él es muy geeky, aficionado también a la tecnología así que por supuesto me mostró una aplicación donde empezó la lista y a mi me encantó al instante! Se llama Wunderlist.

Empezando con esa le quiero mostrar cuales aplicaciones son muy útiles para que hagan su propia lista estilo Bucket List de verano, aquí les va!

Wunderlist (This app it’s now Microsoft To Do)
Es muy sencilla, hace listas to-do y eso es todo. Lo mejor es que se puede compartir con quien quieras, así que Derek y yo estamos compartiendo nuestra lista de verano y podemos añadir o editar según sea necesario. También se puede imprimir fácilmente desde la app.

Tiny Calendar
Yo uso mi calendario Google religiosamente pero en mi iPhone no hay aplicación de calendario Google (update, ahora si hay!), por lo que esta aplicación es muy chévere, me muestra todos mis calendarios de Google muy bien. Es la que abro en mi teléfono todo el tiempo, la super recomiendo (Por supuesto, si tienen Android probablemente la app del Calendario de Google podría ser mejor).

 

Hey Lets (Update: Ya no existe esta app)
Elige tus intereses y comienza a buscar recomendaciones de lugares cercanos a tí, ahí no existen críticas malas! Me encanta el diseño porque es agradable y fácil de usar, ¡está muy chévere para conocer lugares nuevos!

Swarm
Esta es una app donde se puede hacer “check-in” y ver lo que tus amigos han dicho sobre el lugar antes o si tal vez están cerca.

OverDrive
¡Un gran descubrimiento! Esta aplicación es para pedir prestado libros electrónicos y libros de audio en la biblioteca local (update, en algunas bibliotecas ahora se usaLibby ), se utiliza el mismo número de carnet de la biblioteca, pero se pueden buscar leer directamente desde la aplicación. ¡Está perfecta para elegir un libro de audio para un viaje por carretera!

Roadtrippers
Estamos planeando un viaje por carretera y me pareció que es la mejor aplicación para planearlo. Te muestra el mapa y muchos lugares alrededor de dónde estés o adonde vas a ir. Voy a usarla para planificar el viaje de carretera, y durante el viaje la puedo utilizar como guía también.

Pinterest
Bueno, sólo hagan una búsqueda “Bucket List Verano” y obtendrán un montón de ideas para su propio! Tenerlo en el teléfono es tan útil, porque si están en un lugar y te vienen ideas, mejor les haces pin para después! 

EXTRA TIP! Un par de herramientas que no son del celular que son super útiles también son las revistas locales de la ciudad (Si viven en San Diego TIENEN que usar San Diego magazine) y la revista local para familias; las dos tienen una información muy valiosa de actividades y eventos que tienen lugar cerca de tí cada mes. Denles un vistazo a las revistas impresas o en el celular directamente y añadan sus intereses a la lista del verano.

Estoy usando todas estas aplicaciones con un iPhone 6 y el servicio de Straight Talk Wireless; es la primera vez que utilizo un servicio como este, sin planes de contrato y buena cobertura. ¡Hasta ahora me está gustando! Pueden traer su propio celular y obtener conección con ellos o comprar un nuevo teléfono con ellos directamente.
