New Orleans Photo Walk around Bourbon Street

This is my second post and set of photos from New Orleans, you can check the first post about my trip explore New Orleans with me here.

I have to confess something, I didn’t know much about New Orleans before going. I knew they have big history on music and that they have Mardi Gras but I didn’t really know it actually is mostly on one street and how it is other times of the year. 

But since I am a very visual person, being there helped me learn. And New Orleans has so much to see, specially Bourbon Street. There is a combination of business around the street but most of them are bars and restaurants. People go there to party until the next day really, I didn’t know!

There are also lots of gift stores that sell masks and bead necklaces, all kinds of eccentric/bizarre things and tourist souvenirs. There are plenty of art galleries and also witchcraft stores. See? A very interesting mix of things!

The crowd is mostly young people partying but you can see families and older people visiting as well. There are hotels and places to stay right on Bourbon street, we could see groups of women and guys hanging out on the balconies and throwing bead necklaces down, even though it wasn’t Mardi Gras when we were there, it’s the thing to do.

The other thing that amazed me was that it is ok to drink alcoholic beverages in the street! And since it’s ok I think they take full advantage of it! The size of the drinks they sell are enormous, plus many places sell those frozen flavored drinks, they look good! 

The amount of photos I have here seems little compared to the amount of interesting things there are at Bourbon Street! Hope you enjoyed my little photo walk tour!

Este es mi segundo post y grupo fotos de Nueva Orleans, pueden ver el primer post sobre mi viaje y explorar Nueva Orleans conmigo aquí.

Tengo que confesar algo, antes de visitar Nueva orleans yo no sabía mucho acerca de la ciudad. Sabía que tienen bastante historia en cuanto a música y que celebran Mardi Gras, pero realmente no sabía la mayoría se celebra en una sola calle, la calle Bourbon, y ni idea de cómo era en otras épocas del año.

Pero ya que soy una persona muy visual, estando allí de visita aprendí más, es lo chévere de visitar nuevos rumbos. Y Nueva Orleans tiene tanto que ver, especialmente la calle Bourbon. Hay una combinación de negocios variados en esta calle, pero la mayoría de ellos son bares y restaurantes. La gente va allí de rumba y celebran hasta el día siguiente de verdad, ¡yo no lo sabía!

Yo no soy muy rumbera (sólo a veces!) pero aunque uno no lo sea, el caminar por la calle Bourbon es algo que todo el mundo tiene que hacer cuando se visita Nueva Orleans, nosotros la caminamos de día y también de noche.

Hay un montón de tiendas de regalos que venden esas máscaras típicas bellísimas de carnaval y collares de cuentas (de perlas de colores), todo tipo de cositas excéntricas y recuerditos para turistas. Hay un montón de galerías de arte y tiendas también tiendas de brujería. ¿Ven? ¡Una mezcla muy interesante de cosas!

La multitud que visita en su mayoría son jóvenes que se van de rumba, pero se puede ver también a familias y personas mayores visitando. Hay hoteles y lugares para alojarse justo en plena calle Bourbon, podíamos ver a grupos de muchachas y muchachos de fiesta en los balcones tirando collares de cuentas hacia abajo, a pesar de que no era Mardi Gras cuando estuvimos allí, es lo se acostumbra.

La otra cosa que me sorprendió es que legalmente se puede tomar bebidas alcohólicas en la calle. Y a esto le sacan provecho lo más que pueden! Venden unas bebidas enormes, y muchos de muchos lugares venden todo tipo de slushies con alcohol de mil quinientos sabores que se ven bien ricos!

La verdad es que la cantidad de fotos que tengo aquí parece poquita en comparación con la cantidad de cosas interesantes que hay para observar en la calle Bourbon.¡Espero que hayan disfrutado mi pequeño recorrido con fotos!
