Let’s Explore New Orleans!

If you come regularly to the blog you might remember I visited New Orleans for a conference a while ago and I only posted about it once and quickly without many photos. Well, I’m fixing that. I have edited ALL my pictures from that trip and I’m very happy I did because there is a lot to share. In fact there are so many photos that I had to divide them in 3 posts to not make it so long.

It was my first time in New Orleans and I was so excited and amazed by it all, I would define this city as a multisensory city, you can see so much, but can also hear (so much music!), taste of course and smell too! We stayed very close to Bourbon St which is the famous street where it all happens (famous Mardi Gras), it never sleeps; so we were able to walk around it during the day and during the night.

The side of the city you see here is called the French Quarter and it’s where almost everything happens, I loved the architecture and the plazas and markets you can walk in. 

Our first destination was Café Du Monde, the super famous coffee shop that sells basically coffee and beignets (french doughnuts), that’s it. It was my first time trying the beignets and I think they are great, I also loved that they had iced latte! Café Du Monde has been there since 1862! It is pretty hard to believe, wow!

There is so much to see and do, there are horse carriages that you can ride, pedicabs and a cable car (They call it Streetcar) that runs around the area so you can explore. The café is close to the Mississippi river which is the one you can see in the photos below.

Si vienes regularmente al blog puede ser que recuerdes que visité Nueva Orleans para una conferencia hace un tiempo ya y yo sólo publiqué un post y sin muchas fotos del viaje. Bueno, aquí regreso con todo! Ya edité TODAS mis fotos de ese viaje y estoy muy contenta de haberlo hecho porque tengo muchísimas fotos que compartirles. De hecho, hay tantas fotos que tuve que dividir en 3 posts el asunto para no hacerlo tan largo.

Este viaje fué mi primera vez en Nueva Orleans y estaba tan emocionada e impresionada con todo, yo definiría esta ciudad como una ciudad multisensorial, es un espectáculo para los ojos, pero también para el oído (¡tanto música!), para el gusto por supuesto, ¡y para el olfato también! Estuvimos muy cerca de Bourbon St, que es la famosa calle donde todo sucede (el famoso Mardi Gras) y la que nunca duerme; así que pudimos caminar alrededor de ella durante el día y durante la noche.

Hay muchísimo arte por todas partes que ves y la mayoría representando a la música ya que Nueva Orleans es un marca muy importante para la música, nada más y nada menos que la ciudad donde nació el Jazz! 

Me hubiera encantado explorar más en el lado de la música pero no me dió tiempo, al menos ir a escuchar jazz en vivo; pero por lo menos cuando uno anda caminando por ahí en todos lados puedes ver y escuchar los cuartetos de jazz en las calles que son increíbles, me sentí como si estaba en una película.

El lado de la ciudad que se ve aquí en este post se llama el The French Quarter (Barrio Francés) y es donde casi todo pasa, me encantó la arquitectura y las plazas donde uno puede caminar. 

Nuestro primer destino fue el Café Du Monde, un café muy famoso que vende solamente café y beignets (donas francesas), eso es todo. Fue la primera vez que probé los famosos beignets y les garantizo que son riquísimos, también me encantó que venden café frió! El Café Du Monde ha estado allí desde 1862! ¡Es bastante difícil de creer para mi!

Hay tanto que ver y hacer, hay carrozas de caballos en las que puedes pasear, bicitaxis y un trolly (Ellos le llaman Streetcar) que va alrededor de la zona para que uno pueda explorar. El café está cerquita del río Mississippi que es el que pueden ver en las fotos aquí arriba.

En el próximo post de Nueva Orleans les mostraré más de la famosa calle Bourbon!
