Spicy Scalloped Potatoes Recipe {Giveaway}

The king of hot sauce in this house is Derek, he LOVES his spicy, he keeps buying new ones and trying them, the other day he mentioned he is like a hot sauce guru! I know he enjoys it a lot.
I like spicy in some dishes too and I learned to like it more when I lived in Mexico, it’s amazing how almost everything is spicy there, even ice cream! But the good thing is that there are always levels, that’s how I thought about this dish, it’s a regular every day recipe, just yummy scalloped potatoes cooked with a touch of habanero spice into it but you can have little hot to burning burning hot on it, you decide how to cook it!

So when #CollectiveBias invited me to try this hot sauce El Yucateco I immediately thought about cooking it for the hubby who would enjoy it mucho.
You know what happened though? I didn’t add enough hot sauce for his taste! But it was ok because he added more when he was eating it. For my taste it was hot enough though, I was surprised that I did tolerate it and the flavor was good. The Yucateco sauce I used is the Black Label Reserved, the sauce is black because the chiles are roasted.
You can find the recipe below with step-by-step photos. You can also go to El Yucateco Facebook page to learn more about all the sauces they offer and go to their website for more spicy recipe ideas.
Extra! Join the bilingual #SauceOn Twitter party for even more inspiration and ideas on how to bring more excitement to your everyday meals by using El Yucateco. There will be $550 in Walmart gift cards!  RSVP here

SPICY SCALLOPED POTATOES

Ingredients:

  • 3 russet potatoes
  • 3 tablespoons of butter
  • 1/4 cup of chopped parsley
  • 2 chopped green onions (the green and the white)
  • 1 cup of heavy cream and 1 cup of milk mixed
  • 3 1/2 cups of cheddar cheese
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons of El Yucateco Black Label Reserve salsa
  • 3 tablespoons of shredded parmesan cheese
– – – –

PAPAS PICANTES GRATINADAS

Ingredientes:

  • 3 papas russet

1. Peel the potatoes, wash them and cut them in thin slices.

2. Butter the baking dish or dishes, I used 5 small ones of about 5 inches diameter each.

3. Start making a layer of potatoes, then a little bit of cream, then add some parsley and green onion.

4. Add the cheese and touches of Yucateco Black Label (to your taste).

5. Add some butter and more cream.
5. Agrega toques de mantequilla y más crema.

6. Continue the layers in the same order until the top, at the end add a little bit of parmesan cheese. Cover with foil and place in the oven. Bake for 60 minutes, take the foil off and introduce it again for 5 more minutes in broil.

– E S P A Ñ O L –
