I’ve been wanting to share how we stay connected to my side of the family since we moved down to San Diego. It has taken a while to get used to not living so close to my sister and my mom. It’s such a huge difference for me but slowly we’ve been making it work.

We try to plan to see them at least once a month, although that doesn’t always work out. It doesn’t matter if it’s not exact but the point is to schedule the visits as soon as we can to work it out, we take turns, either they come over or we go. Sometimes it’s just my sister that visits, sometimes just my mom, and sometimes everybody. And for when we go up to LA the same thing.

They both moved out of the house we use to own (where they lived next by each other) so it was easier to visit. Now they live in totally different cities within LA which has made it a little harder but not impossible, we’ll get used to it.

This summer we visited 2 times. My mom now lives really close to this awesome water park so we went there both times (I have pictures of this coming soon). It’s great because now we get to know even more place in LA. The kids get so excited to visit Abu and tía and I just love to see them interact and see everybody’s face. It’s really the best feeling to have the family together.

Last time we visited we went to the new Grand Park (all the pictures from this post were taken there), it’s such a nice place in downtown LA, between all those big buildings they managed to create a nice refuge, they have activities and events all the time for kids and adults, the best part was the fountain that kids can go into, they had so much fun!

I also felt that nostalgic of not living in LA and remembering lots of past experiences while driving by, it’s amazing how a city can be “yours”. I feel that LA is part of me. I love LA! As you might know, it was hard for me to leave, and even though I’ve come to love San Diego too, my heart will be divided, and not only between LA and San Diego but divide it by every city I’ve lived in, that’s just 2 more: Caracas and Mexico City.

I’m just a city girl at heart, I love that LA is huge and it has such a great mix of cultures and I now it also means family because that’s where part of family lives and that’s where we lived together for a long time, good thing that it’s just 2 hours away!

CONECTADOS CON LA FAMILIA DESDE LOS ANGELES HASTA SAN DIEGO

Desde hace tiempo que quería compartirles como es que me mantengo en contacto con mi lado de la familia desde que nos mudamos a San Diego. Nos ha tomado tiempo acostumbrarnos a vivir lejos de mi mamá y mi hermana. Es una diferencia tan grande ahora pero poco a poco hemos mejorado.

Tratamos de vernos siempre por lo menos una vez al mes ya sea que ellas vengan o que nosotros vayamos, claro y en las ocasiones especiales como cumpleaños y Navidades ni se diga. A veces no se puede una vez al mes pero igual tratamos de anotarlo en el calendario lo más pronto y trabajar con el horario de cada quien. A veces viene mi mamá sola, a veces mi hermana y a veces las dos e igualmente cuando voy a LA a veces sola, o con los niños o todos.

Las dos se mudaron de la casa en donde estaban antes hace poco (vivían una al lado de la otra) y era mucho más fácil visitarlas, pero ahora viven en ciudades muy diferentes de Los Angeles lo cual lo hace un poquito más difícil pero no imposible, ya nos estamos acostumbrando.

Durante el verano fuimos 2 veces, mi mamá se mudó a un lugar que queda muy cerca de un parque de agua buenísimo que nunca habíamos ido antes (les traigo fotos de eso en otro post pronto). Lo chévere de que se mudaron es que ahora estamos conociendo nuevos sitios en Los Angeles. Los niños se emocionan tanto cuando van, se vuelven locos por ver a la Abu y a la tía y a mi me encanta ver a todo el mundo junto, no hay nada como estar todos juntos en familia.

La última vez que fuimos, visitamos por primera vez el Grand Park (todas las fotos en este post son de ahí) que está en el centro de Los Angeles entre tantos edificios. Es chévere, un refugio que ofrece bastantes actividades y eventos para niños y adultos, muy lindo y además tiene una fuente donde los niños se pueden bañar de lo más rico, es perfecto!

The “Little Libraries” cute houses are all around the park, leave a book to share with somebody else and grab one if you wish! – Estas casitas estas que se llaman “Bibliotequitas” y están alrededor de todo el parque son para compartir libros usados, deja uno y agarra otro!

También sentí aún más esa nostalgia de no vivir allá, cada vez que pasaba por lugares me acordaba de cosas, es impresionante como una ciudad puede llegar a ser “tuya”. Yo siento que Los Angeles es ya parte de mi, me encanta LA y es que, como ustedes saben, me costó mucho tener que mudarme fuera y aunque ya “quiero” a San Diego también mi corazón se tiene que dividir, es más, hay que agregarle dos ciudades más: Caracas y  Ciudad de México.

Yo soy citadina de corazón, me encanta Los Angeles, me parece que tiene una mezcla tan variada de culturas y ahora también significa una gran conección con mi familia ya que ahí está gran parte de ella y ahí viví por un buen tiempo con ella, lo bueno es que me queda solo a dos horas!
