It seems like this month is the month of dates! We’ve been lucky to get 2 big dates already (see
the other date), I can’t complain.
This time
Ford sent us on the date, we chose a restaurant, a movie and they let us drive a brand new Ford Escape 2014 Titanium for the weekend. Wow! I felt that our cars where from a long long time ago because the features that this car comes with are amazing.
The Car
Derek went to pick it up and immediately sent me pictures and called me from the car as in connected his phone via the bluetooth. He wanted to show me right away. The car has so many features! First of all it doesn’t have a regular key, it’s just a little remote control that open and close the car with and when you get in the car you have to press a button to start it, that’s all!
It has a control screen in the middle that is very useful, that’s where the entertainment system is, the navigation system and you can also control the temperature from there. It’s a touch screen. All of it can be controlled also by voice, so you tell it to
take me to Shimbashi Izakaya restaurant for example, and it guides you through so you can drive easier.
When backing-up there is the help of a camera that you can see in this electronic screen, it can also park parallel almost by itself.
Everything felt ergonomic inside, one of the features I loved the most was that we were able to save the settings of the driver seat, so whenever I drove I pushed my set button and the seat went back exactly how I had it before Derek moved it!
Oh and the phones! You only sync it once and then every time you get in the car with your phone it recognizes it so you can say: Call Mami and it started calling my mom right away! Derek loved it that he listens to Spotify all the time and he came in and out of the car and the music picked up wherever it left off.
It’s funny how all these features are what we like about the car right? The smartphone connection, the navigation, the music options and so on… I think this is how the future is, it goes without saying that it drives so smoothly but that the car kind of like adjusts to our trinkets and day-to-day life, that’s priceless!
The Date
It’s rare that we go out to a fancy restaurant and a movie at the same time these days, we really have time and budget for one or the other so we got fancy and went to both plus to places we’ve never been. The japanese food we had was amazing, I highly recommend the restaurant and if you want a patio seat with a great view, make reservations! (we didn’t ).
And for the movie we watched Paranoia which it’s not really that good but the movie theater: Cinepolis Luxury Cinemas was espectacular! It was a deluxe theater, reclining chairs, you can order from your seats during the whole movie and in 2 of them they serve alcohol. If you live close-by and never tried this, go!! I wish we could go all the time to this theater now!
The Weekend
The kids were excited to “meet” the car, they went in it and inspected, specially Adrian, he seems to be into cars these days, he talks about brands and asks me which one I like best so he kept saying how much he loved this car and he didn’t want to give it up! We took a nice ride on Sunday to a little playground with water for them at Santee and then drove around Mission Trails, never seen either of the places, so we had the chance to enjoy the car the four of us.

Esta vez
Ford nos mandó a una noche de verano espectacular, nos fuimos al cine y a cenar y nos prestaron un Ford Escape 2014 Titanium por el fin de semana. De verdad espectacular! Nos sentimos un poco anticuados al ver todas las características que tiene este carro.
El Carro
Derek fué por el e inmediatamente me mandó fotos y me llamó desde el carro ya con su celular conectado con el bluetooth. Me lo quería enseñar de una, es que tiene unas cosas buenísimas! Primero que todo, no tiene una llave normal, es sólo un pequeño control remoto el cual abre y cierra las puertas y hasta prende el carro antes de meterse, luego cuando estás adentro sólo le aprietas un botón y listo.
Tiene una pantalla de control en el medio buenísima, es bastante útil, tiene el sistema de entretenimiento, el sistema de navegación y también se puede controlar el aire acondicionado desde ahí, es una pantalla táctil. Pero todo se puede controlar por medio de comandos de voz, le puedes decir por ejemplo: Llévame al restaurant Shimbashi Izakaya, y de ahí te va guiando para que manejes más fácil.
Cuando retrocedes está la ayuda de una camarita y puedes ver todo en la pantallita también, puede hasta estacionarse en paralelo casi que solo si se necesita.
Todo se siente ergonómico adentro, una de las características que más me gustó es que se pueden guardar los settings del asiento del conductor, es decir cuando me tocaba manejar a mi apenas apretaba un botón y el asiento se acomodaba justo como lo dejé antes de que Derek lo moviera.
Ah y los teléfonos!! Sólo lo tienes que sincronizar una vez y luego cada vez que te metes al carro reconoce tu teléfono así que de le podía decir: Llamar a mami y llamó a mi mamá de una. A Derek le encantó porque le gusta mucho escuchar música en Spotify todo el tiempo y cuando se sale del carro y entra la música continúa desde donde terminó anteriormente.
Es un poco extraño como todas estas cositas es lo que más nos gusta no? La conección con el teléfono, la navegación, las opciones de música, etc. Creo que así es el futuro, de más está decir que el carro se maneja tan suave y perfecto pero que se ajuste a nuestras necesidades del día a día con todos estos detallitos, vale oro!
Muy de vez en cuando nos vamos al cine y a comer, casi siempre el presupuesto y el tiempo nos permite sólo una de las dos cosas así que aprovechamos y fuimos a un restaurante fancy de comida japonesa que estuvo riquísimo y el cual recomiendo, pero si quieren sentarse en el patio hagan reservaciones (nosotros no hicimos).
Y la película que vimos fué Paranoia, la verdad no nos gustó mucho pero el cine que fuimos estuvo impresionante! Es el Cinepolis Luxury Cinemas, un teatro de lujo que tiene sillones reclinables, y te atienden en la misma sala mesoneros que te llevan lo que quieras, sólo en dos salas sirven alcohol. Si viven cerca vayan ya! Como quisiera poder ir a este cine todo el tiempo!
El fin de semana
Los niños se emocionaron mucho cuando vieron el carro y lo inspeccionaron por todos lados, especialmente Adrian, ultimamente se la pasa hablando de las marcas de los carros y preguntándome que cual me gusta y que se yo y dijo que estaba triste de dejarlo el Lunes. El domingo nos fuimos de paseo a un parquecito que tenía agua chévere y conocimos otros lugares de San Diego como Santee y Mission Trails. Tuvimos la experiencia de disfrutarlo en familia también.
