Alt Summit Recap: Creativity explosion!

This conference was an excellent fit for me, it’s for creatives and bloggers, what else can I ask for?!! I know it was almost 2 months ago I went but I finally can get around to write about it. I didn’t take many photos because as you know, in conferences I try to enjoy instead of taking my big camera around but I did bring some photos from the official Alt photographers and from my iPhone 🙂

To make it easier I wrote my experience in what could be considered a list, it seems to be easier this way:

• Creativity Explosion!! Yes, this is my best 2 word description of the conference. As a creative person, I always have with so many ideas in my mind, they multiply like rabbits in my head. And Alt is a place were I was able to feel that I am not the only one so I connected with other blogger creatives like me! PLUS the sessions are so inspiring and helpful in canalizing this or helping you del with the “other” side of my brain too. One session that I really liked was “Kickstarting your next project” where I received some cool tips on how to  organize myself and take action on these creative ideas that keep coming.

• One of my favorite favorite parts of Alt was the Wednesday night dinners, these dinners were all over Salt Lake City and for about 15-20 people each, you had to sign-up for it first. It was the night before the whole conference started so I got to meet new friends up close in a more intimate environment which was nice because you get to chat and connect calmly during dinner. The dinner I went was at a Cooking School and the dinner was made by 2 food bloggers: Cafe Johnsonia and Delightful Delicacies, so yummy! One of my favorite things was the 3 different type of butters (picture above), I think I need to get those recipes!

• I had the best roommates! I met them there for the first time, we contacted through Twitter before the event, it is so nice to have roommates to come back and talk to. Even though is very fun to meet all the new people at the conference, it’s nice to come back and chat with friends that know you a little bit more. My roommates were Jenn from Bow Tie and Bustle, Danae from Gather and Hunt and Michelle from Michelle Edgemont. There is a picture of them 3 below (scroll down). Danae brought us a very sweet surprise for each of, a little bag with things that are from Seattle (where she lives) and that we would/might need at the conference, it was the best surprise!

• The last day was reserved for tours and workshops, we also had to sign-up ahead of time. I love the workshops I attended but I wanted more!! I did a watercolor workshop with Courtney,  I felt great exercising some painting skills and having some time to create. I believe this class helped me start one of my new projects I’m working with my sis. I also attended a Photo Walk with Tracey Clark, it was raining and all but we did it and it was great! For this one I have another whole post dedicated to it soon!

• One of the keynotes was held by the amazing Ben Silbermann who created Pinterest, at the end of his speech we all gave him a standing ovation, to me he is the next Steve Jobs, such an inspiring and down to earth person, it was an amazing experience to hear him talk about how he started.

• El último día fué para talleres y tours, los cuales había que también anotarse por adelantado. Me fascinaron los talleres y quería más! No alcanza el tiempo para todo! Participé en un taller de acuarela con Courtney, me sentí muy chévere practicando algo que tenía años que no hacía y además tener aunque sea un chancesito para crear relajadamente, fué maravilloso. Esta clase ya me ha ayudado a empezar un nuevo proyectico que estoy haciendo con mi hermana. También participé en una Photo Walk con Tracey Clark, donde vas con un grupo a tomar fotos juntos caminando, estaba lloviendo ese día pero nos fuimos con paraguas y todo y estuvo muy chévere! En otro post les voy a contar específicamente de este Photo walk.

• Una de las presentaciones grandes las hizo Ben Silbermann, el creador de Pinterest. Al final de su charla todo el mundo se paró y le aplaudimos mucho, para mi él es como el siguiente Steve Jobs, muy inspirador y una persona super sencilla, fué tremenda expriencia escuchar su historia de como empezó.
