Ally and Cooper

We adopted Ally first. I didn’t like cats but I don’t know why or how all of a sudden we were on our way to adopt one (Derek and I adopted her before getting married). We went to a pet hospital where they rescue animals and have them for adoption. I love how she picked us, she kept meowing at us, even though we were looking at other kitties there she was doing her best to leave with us. Her original name was Kramer, because a lady found her in an alley and that was the lady’s her last name.

As soon as we were on our way home with our little kitty (She was 1y/o) in the car I started sneezing! I was never allergic to cats before and all of a sudden she gave me huge allergies! We were almost going to give her to a friend after a couple of weeks but we didn’t have the heart, she was already our new baby. I started to take some medicines and after a couple of rough months I stopped the medicines and little by little the allergies went away! So the name Ally was because she came from an alley and because of my allergies 🙂

We call her Queen Ally around here, she is definitely the queen! Just look at some of her poses!

A couple years later we adopted Cooper from another group that rescues kitties, he was one of many brothers and sisters. And as soon as we got there he stuck his paw through the cage and again he picked us! It was not easy to get Ally used to having a new cat around, it took a while, but they are pretty used to each other now. We call Cooper King Coop, and he is very very loving with anybody that comes visits, he’ll ask for love right away!

I would adopt more but I think 2 kids and 2 cats is enough for now, although when we move to a bigger place one day who knows what can happen!! I love how any little animal can be rescued and have a good life with a family, I can’t believe that there are millions of little ones that get euthanized each year, so if you want to get a pet please consider adopting from a rescue shelter!

In their YouTube page they have cute funny videos of pets “talking” and you can also connect through Twitter or Facebook with them.

Yo adoptaría más gaticos pero con 2 niños y 2 gatos creo que es suficiente por ahora, aunque cuando nos mudemos para un sitio más grande un día quien sabe que pueda pasar! Me encanta el hecho de poder ayudar a los animalitos y darles una casita. No sabía que hay millones de animales que les hacen  eutanasia cada año porque no se adoptan 🙁 que triste. Por eso si piensan tener una nueva mascota en la familia adopten de un shelter!

Hoy en día es hasta más fácil con tanta información disponible, vean la página web de The Shelter Pet Project, hasta hay una guía super fácil donde se pueden ver las fotos de los animalitos disponibles en tu área! En su página de YouTube tienen videos cómicos de mascotas “hablando” y también pueden conectarse con ellos en Twitter o Facebook.
