The party he wanted

Cake Time

Adrian started to plan his party about 3 months before his birthday. He would start telling me what he wanted every now and then, but the most important comment after we moved was: “Mami, but where are we going to put the big jumper? There is no space here in the apartment, we better move to a bigger house before the party!! LOL! Since there was no time to move again before the day of the party came, we decided to celebrate his birthday at the park 😉

And really, overall I didn’t even want to do a party, I thought we wouldn’t have many kids anyways cause he doesn’t have many friends yet here in San Diego, but it didn’t matter, he was so excited with his party planning and we didn’t want to disappoint him so at least a small party was planned, we invited his best friends from school and the closest friends from LA which not all where able to come of course.

Adrian also started to look at cakes and he opened a book I have of kid’s cakes in different fun shapes, he asked me if I could make one of those for him, and I finally said I would make him a cake in the shape of a #5. I am not a baker and I usually don’t make cakes at home but as you know I’m crafty and love this type of challenge so I made the cake and I will tell you all about it in another post…

For the party we reserved a big gazebo at our favorite park Mission Bay BUT that day rained really bad, the whole day! So we had a plan B, either the clubhouse of the building or the apartment and the last choice was the final cause the clubhouse was too expensive. OMG, but I was sooo nervous! Even though it was pretty much raining the whole day, when I saw a little sunlight we changed our minds and told the guests to go over to the park and again came the rain so we were calling back and forth until half and hour before the party, craziness!

Adrian Piñata 4

All I could think of was our little apartment and all the people (which weren’t that many anyways) and the piñata, how would we do the piñata?? And the kids, would they have fun, would they make a mess and not enjoy? But everything turned out GREAT, the amount of people was just perfect, the kids had lots of fun playing in Adrian and Maya’s room with all the toys, they didn’t even care where they where really and the piñata was a hit! Derek stood in a chair and held it up high for the kids to hit it one by one and they all got their bags full. At the end Adrian was very very happy and satisfied with his party and we were too. (Although I did feel the birthday blues for about a week after the party, have you guys felt that so strong before?)

Enjoy the pictures of the event and if you ever need to do a piñata inside an apartment or a cake in shape of the #5 let me know cause now I have lots of experience now!

– E S P A Ñ O L –

We had loads of fun at Adri's 5th birthday party. Thanks for having us share another birthday with you all. The inside pinata was soooo hilarious though. I commend Derek for having NO FEAR! Those kids were going at it with that pinata stick. It was CRAZY but super fun. As always, we closed down the party. Thanks for the weekend, guys.
