Happenings in LA for next weekend

I am so excited about this new section the blog! Did you see the first one before? If you haven’t and you want to know how it started check it out here.

Today I bring you 3 events for this next weekend. There is so much happening around this city is amazing and I will just talk about this 3, but this weekend is full with a lot of spring fairs and other events just because he temperature at this time of year is supposed to be great, although is cold and a little bit rainy over here. Hopefully the weather will change for the weekend!

I want to go to the 3 events but I don’t think I can. Ok so here they go.

A beautiful exhibit showcasing the annual celebration of this famous LA landmark “Olvera Street” as seen through the eyes of 5 latina student photgraphers.
I have to admit that this one is the one I’m most exited about, can’t wait to meet those latina photographers and see their work plus meet the whole “Las Fotos Project” people, what a great great idea and organization.
Shamefully I have never been to the Olvera St. myself, but I am planning a visit on my own another day only to take pictures of it.

This is on Saturday May 21st from 4pm to 8pm at The Pico House, 430 North Main St, Los Angeles, 90012. Free Admission.

This looks like another book fair type, it offers lots more fun like music, kids corner, live art, local foods, etc. It’s presented by Tia Chucha’s Centro Cultural and bookstore and the Department of Cultural Affairs of LA. One of the bands that are playing there is called La Santa Cecilia and I saw them live once and fell in love. I think I can’t make it to this one but if you go let me know how it goes!  

This is on Saturday May 21st from 11am to 7pm. Los Angeles Mission College, 13356 Eldridge Ave, Sylmar, CA 91342. Free Admission.

We went to this one last year and I’m so glad it’s back! I met many green companies and products, also I learned about some cooking classes which led me to a new yoga place close-by and it can go and on.
In fact most of the pictures from this post’s header are from this festival! I love it! They have an excellent website now, so do go check it out!  

This one is on Sunday May 22nd, from 10:30am to 7pm, Woodley Park, Lake Balboa, CA Admission: $7 Adults Free for kids 12 and under. They have a presale going on at their site too.

Yo quisiera ir personalmente a los 3 eventos pero creo que no va a ser posible, bueno sin más aquí se los pongo:

Una hermosa exhibición que nos enseña la famosa “Placita Olvera” de Los Angeles a través de las fotos de 5 latinas estudiantes de fotografía. Tengo que admitir que este evento es el que más me emociona del fin de semana, ya quiero conocer a las fotógrafas y ver sus fotos y además concocer a la gente detrás de este “Las Fotos Project” que se ve muy chévere. Yo tengo que admitir que aún no conozco la placita, que horror, pero ya estoy planeando ir sola sólo para tomarle fotos. 

Este parece ser otro festival de libros, ofrece muchas cosas como mucha música, Rincón Infantil, Arte en Vivo, Comida local, etc. Está presentado por la tienda de libros / Centro Cultural Tía Chucha y el Departamento Cultural de Los Angeles. Uno de los grupos que van a tocar allí se llama La Santa Cecilia, yo los conocí una vez en un evento donde tocaron en vivo y desde ese día me enamoré. No creo que vaya a poder ir a este evento pero si van me cuentan!!

WorldFest – Green, Compasionate Living, Music Festival


Nosotros fuimos a esta misma feria el año pasado y estoy bien contenta de que regresa! De hecho la mayoría de las fotos del header de este post son de ahí. Conocí muchos productos y compañías nuevas. Me enteré de unas clases de cocina y luego por medio de esas clases encontré un lugar de Yoga bien chévere y así podemos seguir con todas las maravillas por descubrir. Además tienen diversión para los niños porsupuesto.
Este es el Domingo 22 de Mayo, 10:30am – 7pm, Woodley Park, Lake Balboa, CA Admisión: $7 Adults, GRATIS para niños menores de 12 años. Venden entradas a bajo precio antes de ir en su página también.
