Having a baby is relaxing, yes it is!! I just realized that myself these days. Maybe that’s why families have more and more kids because being a parent of a baby is sooo relaxing… Especially after you compare it to having a toddler or a preschooler, and I don’t even have a teenager, OMG!
Well, babies are always cute and a little bit of work (mostly physical work, like taking away sleep time at the beginning) and the new stages are exciting but to take a breather I am living the present very much so with little Maya, something that I find very different as how it was with Adrian. For example, when she wakes me up in the morning with her coos and giggles, I do want to turn around and keep sleeping but she still finds a way to make a big smile on my face and stare at her and just relax in bed for a little while even if there is a full work day ahead!

At nights, I like to do her bedtime routine, sometimes she’s very tired and fuzzy and cries a little but even if she does, she’s very content to breastfeed peacefully and then go to sleep right away. We close the door and the room is dark, I sometimes read or just close my eyes for a little meanwhile she’s feeding; See!! It’s relaxing!
On the other hand, Adrian is fun, talkative and full of energy!! (See video below) Teaching us patience in the full extent of the word everyday! Derek usually takes care of his bedtime routine, although sometimes we switch so that he doesn’t go crazy, LOL! And maybe a couple of times a week I read him a book which is part of his routine.
I wanted to talk about this because it is so interesting to me, I didn’t think that Maya was going to bring me relaxing moments!! Parenting is hard, but when you have more than one child it also gets easier sometimes!! I guess I’m enjoying this 😉

Tener un bebé es realmente relajante, siiii!! Me di cuenta de esto hace poquito. A lo mejor es por eso que hay muchas familias que tienen muchos hijos porque se les hace cada vez más calamda la cosa… Especialmente cuando uno compara los bebés con un niño de edad prescolar, y eso que todavía me falta mucho para poder comparar con un adolescente, Ay Dios!
Los bebés son siempre cuchis y si dan un poco de trabajo (Trabajo físico más que todo como por ejemplo que te quitan horas de descanso) y las etapas nuevas son muy emocionantes pero con Mayita vivo mucho el presente, cosa que no hacía tanto con Adrian, por ejemplo cuando se despierta en las mañanas y empieza a hacer esos ruiditos gu, gu, ta, ta, la verdad si me provoca voltearme y seguir durmiendo un poquito más pero ella con sus ruiditos siempre encuentra la manera de hacerme sonreir y empezar a quedaaarme mirándola y haciéndole caritas como que si no hubiera más nada que hacer en el mundo!
En las noches, me gusta encargarme de su rutina de ir a dormir, a veces si se está muy cnsada y llora un poco más de lo normal, pero en general siempre está dispuesta a tomar pecho con mucha tranquilidad y luego dormirse rapidamente. Cierro la puerta del cuarto y el cuarto está oscuro y calladito, a veces yo leo un poquito o cierro los ojos por un rato con ella… Ven! Es bien relajante!!
Por otro lado, Adrian es divertido y conversador y lleno de energía!! Nos enseña la paciencia de mil maneras todos los días. Derek se encarga de la rutina dormir de él, aunque algunas veces cambiamos para variar la situación y no volverse loco, jajaja! Y como 2 o 3 veces a la semana yo le leo un libro a Adrian lo cual es parte de su rutina.

Quería hablar de esto porque me parece tan interesante, nunca pensé que Maya me iva a traer momentos así de la tranquilos, fué lo menos que me imaginé! Ser padres no es nada fácil, pero cuando se tiene más de un hijo algunas veces se vuelve hasta más fácil! Creo que estoy disfrutando esto 🙂

September 21, 2010 at 9:03 pmDariela, your kiddies are adorable!! I love your son's Spanglish!! As for parenting being relaxing??? Bueno.. sometimes yes and sometimes no. I'm glad you have shown other mamis how to take joy in moments when everything is flowing calmly.
Your son reminds me of my boys when they were his age. They were very chatting then and still are now. I love talking with my boys.

El video de Adrian me mato, dejame decirte que tu hijo me enloquece, es DEMASIADO bello… como habla de bien, la parte de take a bath,luego de sale y dry off… me mato de amor.

¡Dariela, ella sí es tiernaaa!!!! Samuel me despierta con un ¡Ah! mamamamamamah… no deja de asombrarme la diferencia entre hembritas y varoncitos, desde pichurritos. Samuel es más parecido a Adrián ¡Qué energía, Dios mío! ¡Y qué guapoooooooo!!!
Y sí, estoy de acuerdo contigo. La maternidad es relajante… no siempre, pero lo es ♥
