Parada de la Suerte / Lucky Stop

We are very lucky to live in a city where people need to stop and change planes to keep traveling to other places. This time my cousin Luis stopped with his friend Garret. They went to visit another cousin “Carmen” in Australia (I have lots of cousins… around 40 and now with the cousin’s kids we’re probably up to more than a hundred, who knows! I love having so much family!) Anyways, coming back from their trip they stayed a night and 2 days with us. Luis lives in Ithaca, NY, so it’s already far for us to see him that frequently. Last time we saw him was about 2 years ago in New York, NY.
We had a great time, we stayed at home one day and the other day we ventured out to “The Grove”, it’s a cute Outdoors’ mall and it’s also by a Farmer’s Market where there is nice places to eat anything you wish. We even went to the movies!!

About Adrian, let me tell you that he wasn’t behaving that well. I think he was a little jealous and he didn’t understand why wasn’t he getting 100% of the attention this time. So he cried and cried and cried a lot for no reasons like for example if I wouldn’t carry him. So he had his first “time out” Oh No!! Poor Baby!! (me and Derek where saying this inside). We took him to his room and I told him he wasn’t going to come out until he had calmed and stopped crying. He did calm down after a few minutes and started playing alone with his toys. I felt that it worked and I know this is just the beginning, Oh my!! It’s just so hard cause I feel he can’t communicate back as well and maybe he doesn’t understand everything we tell him yet. So we take it easy. We try to ask and offer him many options when he is making a tantrum cause I know that he is also frustrated! Well… little by little (that’s what we tell each other, to be parents, one has to be armed with looooooots patience!)

Nosotros tenemos la suerte de vivir en una ciudad donde la gente cambia de vuelos para viajar al oeste del planeta. Esta vez nos tocó la visita de mi primo Luis José y su amigo Garret. Ellos fueron por 2 semanas a Australia a visitar a mi otra prima Carmen Amelia (es que yo tengo muchos muchos primos…como 40 y ahora con los hijos de los primos seremos más de 100, quien sabe!). Bueno, de regreso se quedaron una noche y 2 dias en la casa. Luis vive en Ithaca, NY osea que ya es bastante lejos para poder vernos. La última vez que lo vimos fué hace como 2 años en Nueva York.
La pasamos muy bien, nos quedamos en la casa un día y el otro salimos a pasear a un centro comercial que es al aire libre y de lo más bonito, se llama “The Grove”, también hay un mercado donde venden frutas, vegetales y hay muchos lugarcitos para comer rico. Hasta fuimos al cine!

De Adrián les puedo contar que no se portó muy bien. Creo que estaba medio celoso y no entendía porque no le prestamos 100% de atención como usualmente pasa. Así que chilló y lloró mucho por nada, como por ejemplo porque no lo cargaba, así que tuvo su primer castigo chiquitico (pobrecito), lo llevamos a su cuarto y le dije que allí se quedara hasta que se tranquilizara y allí se quedó por otro ratito llorando hasta que se calmó y empezó a jugar en su cuarto, siento que sirvió de algo pero bueno, se que esto es solo el comienzo. Tratamos de ayudarle a transmitir lo que quiere preguntándole y ofreciéndole muchas cosas cuando llora porque se que se siente frustado de no saber como comunicarse, poco a poco!! (Eso nos lo decimos a nosotros mismos! De verdad que hay que armarse de muuucha paciencia para ser padres) Más fotos del paseo aquí.
